The most enjoyable parts of the trip in nature and mountaineering is drinking a variety of hot drinks that is made with fresh plants of that area. Have you ever noticed while walking in nature how many kinds of different plants and flowers exist to attract our attention!? But we usually have no idea about their features and just talk about their beauty.
In this chapter, we are going to introduce some of these beautiful and salutary plants and learn how to use them without harming them.
Chamomile which its scientific name is Matricaria Chamomilla Recutita, is from Succory family with a warm and dry nature. Due to its curative medicinal uses, it is known as the star of medicinal herbs.
chamomile grows wildly in grasslands, plains and low mountains (about 500 meters). The main source of this cute herb is the Mediterranean regions. Though, we can see the dispersal of this plant in Asia and rarely in other parts of the world. In Iran, it can be found in most areas. Wherever there is moisture, heat and space, there is a plain of chamomile. There are, however, several species of this plant that grows in nature in different areas such as Shiraz, Lorestan, Hamedan, Isfahan, Gilan, Golestan, Mazandaran, Tabriz, Alborz, Azerbaijan, and much more in Kurdistan.
Chamomile naturally grows 30 to 60 centimeters, and its small flowers are made up of taper white-tipped petals (floret), in the central part of it (round floret) is yellow, and its green and delicate stems are covered with needle and grooved leaves. These leaves have fluffs that protect the plant against pests.
It is worth knowing that chamomile is considered as the most used medicinal plant in the European countries. The tremendous features of this beautiful plant make it very advisable to use it in traditional medicine. It has been said that Claudius Galenus used chamomile in many cases, such as relieving pain, inflammation, fever and gastrointestinal disorders.
This plant is rich in flavonoids and terpeneids, and therefore it can increases the ability of the immune system. By reducing the production of leukotriene and histamine, which are released during inflammation and pain, it makes affected area relaxed.
According to some studies, some people may be sensitive to chamomile, If you are one of those people who have allergies to Asteraceae, Chrysanthemum, Parsley flowers, Sunflowers, Ambrosia and such plants, you should consult your doctor for high consumption of chamomile.
Some of the important health benefits of chamomile are:
Gastric ulcer treatment, gastrointestinal diseases, nervous and sexual enhancement, fever, headache, skin inflammation, insomnia, pain relief, menstrual regulation and Sedative.
Keep in mind that you don’t need to root out the plant for using it. Usable parts of chamomile are only white and small flowers that the plant itself can repair and restore the flower after the flower is picked.
In order to make a chamomile drink in nature, it is enough to pour only a small amount (a fist) of the flowers into boiling water and leave it for 5 to 10 minutes on fire to get ready for drinking.
If a part of your body is wounded in nature, you can pound chamomile & place it on wound to prevent infection. Avoid rubbing it near eyes. Chewing Chamomile can help for stomachache, Inhalation of chamomile reduces the irritation and inflammation of the respiratory system.

Chamomile plus black tea will be a sedative and smooth mixture.
If you do not like the taste of chamomile, surely try the combination of cinnamon, chamomile and orange spring.
If the warmth nature of the plant is not useful to you, adding some Mallow can balance it. Chamomile, with roses and black tea, has the same effect and is very tasty.
Unfortunately, in our country, the excessive collection of this plant by various brands of herbal medicines has reduced its distribution in different places. For this reason, I emphasize that we should just pick the flowers and in amount that we need, In this way, we respect nature, utilize and do not harm it.
Flavonoids: A component of herbal & chemicals that naturally occur in plants and have therapeutic effects. They cover a wide range of pigments, and they cause color and increased immunity in plants. Flavonoids are cancer-suppressant, antioxidant, anti-viral, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs.
Terpenoids: It’s a source of fragrances in plants that are also very low in other living organisms. But in plants it is found to be high due to the presence of more smell. Tropenoids are antimicrobials, anticancer and therapies for many diseases.
